NY 219 Civil Air Patrol Squadron Meeting 10 November 2009
The meeting began at 7:30pm.
Captain Silverman made the following announcements:
Scholarships are available for cadets to attend the wing encampment.
Cadets are needed for MSA and GMT positions and all should complete GES to qualify for the 101 Card. Please take the 2 online tests necessary for the Curry Award. They are online exams.
Those Cadets who need community service credit CAP qualifies.
All SUI material needs to be turned in by the end of this week. All assistants should speak to the lead position holders. If the SUI is not completed and passed the entire squadron will be frozen and will not be able to participate in activities.
Many thanks the SM Lantini for building the shelves in the squadron room for the placement of coffee mugs with monograms and call signs.
PAO will work to organize our holiday party.
Major Wooley made the following announcements:
The mini-SAREX has been cancelled due to a scheduling conflict.
The Wing Wide SAREX is scheduled for December 12th.
Major Cioffi announced that we will be using video conferencing for better base communications and integration.
The following are recommendations for certain SAR positions:
AOBD- Needs a location board.
2 MSAs are needed.
2 Trainees to handle briefings.
1 person exclusively for WIMRS.
Gridded sectional map.
OP- 2 MSAs are needed.
Safety- 1 Trainee for briefings
Contact phone number lists.
Evacuation routes.
Mission Pilots-Better pace of briefings.
Air Crew- Must act as a team.
Observer needs to plan and lay out the mission.
Pilot pre flights the plane and flies.
Ground Teams-Need to have a list of all necessary items.
