NY 219 Civil Air Patrol Squadron Meeting 13 January 2009
The meeting began at 7:15pm.
Capt Wooley distributed a NASA flight training video.
Capt Lankford gave a briefing on Air-Ground coordination. It included a review of air to ground and ground to air signaling. He recommends that all pilots and ground teams carry signaling sheets and all ground teams carry signaling mirrors. Old computer CDs were recommended.
Capt Silverman made the following announcements.
A SAREX has been scheduled for 18 January 2009. This will be run by the LI Group. We will participate and operate from Westchester County Base.
Certain staff and assistant staff positions are available at the Group level.
Please follow the Chain of Command in all communications.
A Wing wide SAREX has been scheduled for February 2009.
Please make sure that you have at least 2 SQTRs open for this exercise.
Capt Wooley made the following announcements.
An Aerial Geiger counter has been acquired through the work of Lt Costa. Training will begin in February or March.
A SAR Competition will take place Memorial Day Weekend. Two aircraft from the state will participate. In addition Ground and Mission Base teams may also compete.
The training schedule for the balance of the fiscal year is being created.
A Scanner and Observer School will be held in the near future.
Lt Luman will give a briefing on the new 60-1 at our next meeting.
Parties interested in taking ICS 300 and ICS 400 classes outside of the area must confirm that they are SEMO approved.
Lt Teichman will be developing a Ground School in a class room setting. All those interested should contact him via email.
